About Olunloyo- Oshinowo Folake Ibironke (Hon.)

Hon. Folake Ibironke Olunloyo-Oshinowo is a Nigerian politician, business leader and former member of the House of Representatives from Oyo State. She is associated with the Ibadan political establishment and represents the Ibadan North West/Ibadan South West Federal Constituency in the political sphere. She is a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and is the party's candidate for the constituency in the 2027 House of Representatives election. Her political career includes previous service in the National Assembly as well as extensive involvement in business, community development and constituency-focused initiatives.

Olunloyo-Oshinowo was educated in Ibadan, attending St. Anne's School and the International School Ibadan before proceeding to Obafemi Awolowo University, where she graduated in 1990. Her education provided the foundation for a professional career that later developed across business, administration and public service. Available professional records describe her as a business leader with several decades of experience in the private sector.

Before entering elective politics, Olunloyo-Oshinowo developed experience in the private sector and later became involved in political and public affairs. She served as a senior aide to Aminu Waziri Tambuwal during his tenure as Speaker of the House of Representatives. Her experience within the National Assembly environment gave her an understanding of federal legislative processes before she subsequently became an elected member of the House herself.

Her first major elected political position at the federal level came in the 2011 general election, when she won election to the House of Representatives to represent the Ibadan North West/Ibadan South West Federal Constituency. She served in the Seventh National Assembly and became one of the female legislators representing Oyo State at the federal level. Her legislative career placed her in a position to participate directly in debates, oversight and lawmaking on issues affecting both her constituency and the wider country.

During and around her period of legislative service, Olunloyo-Oshinowo was also involved in constituency development initiatives. One of the programmes associated with her representation was the FOCUS (Folake Olunloyo-Oshinowo Constituency Upliftment Scheme), through which she reported supporting residents of the Ibadan North West/Ibadan South West constituency. The initiative focused on community-oriented interventions and was presented as part of her efforts to extend the impact of her representation beyond the National Assembly chamber.

Her political career has also involved movement between major Nigerian political parties. She was previously associated with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) before moving to the All Progressives Congress (APC). Her transition to the APC formed part of her renewed participation in Oyo State politics and eventually positioned her for another attempt at representing the Ibadan North West/Ibadan South West constituency at the federal level.

Outside electoral politics, Olunloyo-Oshinowo has maintained a profile in business and community affairs. Her professional record describes her as a business leader with almost three decades of private-sector experience. She has also held community and traditional leadership responsibilities, including the title of Aare Egbe Omo Iyalode, adding another dimension to her public activities in Ibadan.

In 2026, Olunloyo-Oshinowo emerged as the APC candidate for Ibadan North West/Ibadan South West Federal Constituency for the 2027 general election. The Oyo State APC formally unveiled her alongside its other House of Representatives candidates in September 2026. Her selection marked a return to the federal electoral contest after her earlier period of representation in the House.

Folake Ibironke Olunloyo-Oshinowo's public career therefore combines private-sector experience, political administration, federal legislative service and community development. Her earlier tenure in the House of Representatives established her as a federal-level political figure from Ibadan, while her subsequent activities in business and community affairs kept her connected to the constituency. With her emergence as the APC candidate for the 2027 election, she is seeking to return to the National Assembly and again represent the people of Ibadan North West and Ibadan South West.
