Osun | House of representatives
Rt. Hon. Busayo Oluwole Oke is a Nigerian politician and lawyer from Osun State who represents the Obokun/Oriade Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives. He is a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and is seeking another term in the 2027 House of Representatives election. Oke is a long-serving federal legislator who has represented the constituency for several terms and has held a number of senior committee positions in the National Assembly.
Oke was born on April 28, 1967. His public legislative profile lists a Master of Business Administration (MBA) among his educational qualifications. Over the course of his career, he developed an extensive background in law, politics and public administration, eventually becoming one of the long-serving representatives from Osun State in the National Assembly.
His political career at the federal level dates back to 1999, when he was first elected to the House of Representatives. He has subsequently returned to the National Assembly through successive elections, representing the Obokun/Oriade constituency. His long tenure has given him considerable experience in legislative proceedings, committee work and constituency representation.
During his years in the House of Representatives, Oke has occupied several important committee leadership positions. He served as Chairman of the House Committee on Defence from 2003 to 2011 and later chaired the House Committee on Public Procurement. In the 9th Assembly, he served as Chairman of the House Committee on Public Accounts, one of the major oversight committees responsible for examining public expenditure and government financial management.
In the 10th National Assembly, Oke has continued to participate in legislative work through bills and committee assignments. His legislative record includes proposals relating to public finance, auditing, defence, agriculture, insurance, road parking, peacekeeping operations and other areas of federal administration. One of the bills attributed to him, the Federal Audit Service Bill, progressed through the legislative process. He currently serves as Chairman of the House Committee on Foreign Affairs.
Oke's political career was initially associated with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), under which he was elected to the House and served for many years. On May 15, 2025, the House formally received his communication announcing his defection from the PDP to the APC. His move placed him within the APC structure ahead of the 2027 general election.
Beyond his legislative responsibilities, Oke has maintained a strong connection with the Obokun and Oriade communities. His years in the National Assembly have included constituency representation and involvement in development-related programmes. The Osun State Government has also recognised his longstanding involvement in public and private ventures and his contributions to his constituency.
For the 2027 House of Representatives election, Oke is listed as the APC candidate for the Obokun/Oriade Federal Constituency. The current candidate list identifies him under the APC, while the constituency comprises Obokun and Oriade Local Government Areas. His 2027 candidacy marks another stage in his long federal legislative career and his continued bid to represent the constituency in the National Assembly.
