Oyo | House of representatives
Hon. Ibraheem Olayode Iyiola, popularly known as Dudu Alubarika, is a Nigerian businessman, philanthropist and politician from Oyo State. He is associated with the Ibadan North-East/Ibadan South-East Federal Constituency and is a prominent member of the All Progressives Congress (APC). His political activities have centred largely on grassroots mobilisation, community development and efforts to secure representation for the people of Ibadan North-East and Ibadan South-East. In 2026, he emerged as the APC candidate for the federal constituency in the 2027 House of Representatives election.
Iyiola has a background in business and community service. Public reports describe him as a successful businessman who has also devoted considerable attention to philanthropy through the Ibraheem Iyiola Foundation. His philanthropic activities have focused on areas such as education, healthcare, small-business support and assistance to vulnerable members of the community. His connection to Ibadan has also been reflected in his continued involvement with local institutions and community initiatives.
His involvement in politics became more prominent through his activities within the APC in Oyo State. Before pursuing the House of Representatives seat, Iyiola contested for the Ibadan South-East Constituency I seat in the Oyo State House of Assembly under the APC. He subsequently sought the federal constituency ticket, positioning himself as a grassroots politician with an interest in representing the people of the two local government areas at the National Assembly.
Iyiola first sought the APC nomination for the House of Representatives seat ahead of the 2019 general election. Although he was an aspirant for the position, he stepped aside following discussions within the party leadership and allowed another aspirant to contest. He nevertheless remained active within the APC and continued his political and community activities in the constituency. His continued involvement eventually led to another attempt at the federal constituency seat during the subsequent electoral cycle.
Beyond partisan politics, Iyiola has used his foundation to undertake programmes aimed at supporting residents of Ibadan. In 2020, the Ibraheem Iyiola Foundation organised an empowerment programme for traders and artisans in Ibadan North-East and Ibadan South-East, with more than 150 beneficiaries reported to have received support. The foundation has also provided assistance to small businesses, widows and people seeking vocational skills, while supporting educational and healthcare initiatives within the community.
Education has been another prominent area of his community activities. Iyiola attended St. David's Primary School, Kudeti, Ibadan, and later returned to the school to support its development. In 2021, his foundation renovated an abandoned block at the school, comprising classrooms and an office, and distributed school bags and other educational materials to pupils. The foundation has also reported providing scholarships and educational assistance to students from the community.
His community activities have also extended to healthcare. The Ibraheem Iyiola Foundation supported the renovation of the Omiyale Primary Health Care Centre and provided medical supplies as part of its community intervention programmes. These activities have formed part of his broader public profile as a politician whose political engagement has been accompanied by charitable and grassroots development initiatives.
In 2025, Iyiola was also appointed Bashorun Musulumi of Ibadanland, a position within the Muslim community of Ibadan. The appointment was announced by the Grand Imam of Oyo State and was presented as recognition of his contributions to the Muslim community and public service. The position has added a religious and community leadership dimension to his public profile alongside his political and philanthropic activities.
Ahead of the 2027 general election, Ibraheem Olayode Iyiola secured the APC nomination to represent the Ibadan North-East/Ibadan South-East Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives. Oyo APC listed him among its successful House of Representatives candidates following the party's 2026 primaries, and the APC's current candidate platform also identifies him as its candidate for the constituency. His candidacy represents his latest attempt to move from years of grassroots political activity and community service into federal legislative representation.
Ibraheem Olayode Iyiola's public career therefore combines business, philanthropy, grassroots politics and community leadership. His work through the Ibraheem Iyiola Foundation has included support for education, healthcare, traders, artisans, small businesses and vulnerable residents, while his political career has developed through the APC and repeated efforts to secure elected representation. As the APC's 2027 House of Representatives candidate for Ibadan North-East/Ibadan South-East, he remains closely associated with political and community activities across the two federal constituency areas.
