About Arisekola Alao Umar Farouk (Hon.)

Hon. Umar Farouk Arisekola-Alao is a Nigerian businessman, politician and former government official from Oyo State. He is associated with Ibadan and is the son of the late Aare Abdul-Azeez Arisekola-Alao, the prominent Ibadan businessman and philanthropist who served as the Aare Musulumi of Yorubaland. Umar Farouk has developed his own career in business and public service and is currently associated with the political representation of the Ibadan North Federal Constituency. The All Progressives Congress (APC) has selected him as its candidate for the constituency in the 2027 House of Representatives election.

Arisekola-Alao has an educational background that includes studies in Nigeria and abroad. Available professional information identifies him as a graduate of St. George's University, where he studied Accounting between 2004 and 2008. Other biographical accounts state that he attended Government College Ibadan, Bodija International School and Irwin College in the United Kingdom before his university education. His academic and professional background has been complemented by experience in entrepreneurship and private-sector management.

Before becoming involved in elective politics, Arisekola-Alao established himself in the private sector. He is identified as the Chief Executive Officer of Euphoric Heritage Group of Companies, through which he has been involved in business activities. His experience in business has formed part of his public profile alongside his later involvement in government and politics.

His public-service career includes service in the Oyo State Government as Commissioner for Youth and Sports. In that capacity, he was involved in matters relating to youth development and sports administration in the state. His tenure in government gave him direct experience in executive administration before he began seeking federal legislative representation. He has also been described as having served as the South-West Coordinator of the Buhari-Osinbajo campaign in 2015, connecting his political activities with the wider APC political structure.

Arisekola-Alao subsequently became active in grassroots politics in Ibadan North. His political activities have included engagement with APC members, community leaders and residents across the constituency. In 2026, he successfully passed the APC screening exercise for aspirants seeking the House of Representatives nomination, after which he emerged as the party's candidate for Ibadan North. The party later formally presented him among its Oyo State House of Representatives candidates for the 2027 election.

As part of his activities around the 2027 election, Arisekola-Alao has been involved in community-oriented interventions in Ibadan North. Reports have associated him with the provision of boreholes and solar-powered street lighting in parts of the constituency, including Adewunmi Street in Agbowo and communities around Federal Housing Estate and Ikolaba. These interventions have been presented as responses to local concerns relating to access to water and community lighting.

Youth development, education, skills acquisition and economic empowerment have also featured prominently in his stated areas of interest. In discussing his 2027 candidacy, Arisekola-Alao has spoken about creating opportunities for young people to develop practical skills and become economically productive. His campaign activities have also emphasised engagement with community leaders, women, young people and other stakeholders within Ibadan North.

For the 2027 general election, Arisekola-Alao is the APC candidate for the Ibadan North Federal Constituency. The APC's candidate platform lists him for the constituency, while the party formally unveiled him among its Oyo State House of Representatives candidates. He has subsequently commenced constituency-level campaign activities ahead of the election.

Umar Farouk Arisekola-Alao's public career therefore combines business, government service, political organisation and community engagement. His experience as a former Oyo State Commissioner for Youth and Sports provided him with executive-government experience, while his subsequent activities in Ibadan North have focused on grassroots political participation and community interventions. His candidacy in the 2027 election represents his move toward federal legislative representation, with Ibadan North as the constituency he seeks to represent in the House of Representatives.
