About Araf Yakubu Dalhatu (Hon. )

Hon. Araf Yakubu Dalhatu, also known as Mai Amfani, is a Nigerian politician and public administrator from Nasarawa State. He is associated with the Awe/Doma/Keana Federal Constituency, which comprises Awe, Doma and Keana Local Government Areas. He has developed a public profile through his professional career, community engagement and involvement in politics in Nasarawa State.

Araf is a Chartered Accountant (CNA) and has professional experience in economic and financial matters. His name has also appeared in academic and professional work relating to economic policy and unemployment, reflecting his background and interest in economic development.

He has been involved in community affairs across the Awe, Doma and Keana areas and is recognised by several traditional titles, including Wazirin Azara, Dan Amanan Awe and Durbin Akiri. These titles reflect his involvement with traditional and community institutions within the constituency and have contributed to his public profile in Nasarawa State.

Araf's political activities became more prominent ahead of the 2027 general elections, when he sought the opportunity to represent the Awe/Doma/Keana Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives. His political programme has focused on areas including education, youth development, agriculture, rural development, women’s empowerment and improved constituency engagement.

In the 2026 APC primary election for the House of Representatives seat, Araf emerged as the party's candidate after receiving 20,661 votes. His victory followed the decision of the incumbent representative, Abubakar Hassan Nalaraba, to contest for the Nasarawa South Senatorial seat. Araf therefore secured the APC nomination to contest the federal constituency in the 2027 election.

As the APC candidate for the 2027 House of Representatives election, Araf has presented a development agenda centred on improving access to education, supporting farmers, expanding youth employment and skills opportunities, empowering women and strengthening rural infrastructure. He has also emphasised regular communication with constituents as part of his approach to federal representation.

Araf Yakubu Dalhatu's political career is therefore connected to his professional background, community involvement and growing participation in Nasarawa State politics. His emergence as the APC candidate places him in the contest to represent the people of Awe, Doma and Keana at the National Assembly in 2027.
