About Aliyu Ibrahim Almustapha (Hon.)

Aliyu Ibrahim Almustapha is a Nigerian politician, architect and legislator from Sokoto State who represents the Wurno/Rabah Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives. He is a member of the 10th National Assembly and belongs to the All Progressives Congress (APC). He first entered the National Assembly in 2019 and was re-elected in 2023, making him a second-term federal legislator representing Wurno and Rabah.

Aliyu's political career began at the state level before his move to the federal legislature. He served as a member of the Sokoto State House of Assembly representing Rabah Constituency for two terms between 2007 and 2015. During his first term, he served as Minority Whip, while during his second term he became Deputy Leader of the House. His experience in the state legislature provided the foundation for his subsequent career in the National Assembly.

His public-service experience also includes an appointment within the Sokoto State Government. In February 2018, he was appointed Special Adviser on Infrastructural Development to the Sokoto State Government, a position he held until August 2018. The role gave him additional experience in government administration and infrastructure-related matters before he contested for the federal legislative seat.

Aliyu first contested the Wurno/Rabah Federal Constituency seat in the 2019 general election on the APC platform. INEC's official record shows that he won the election with 35,122 votes, defeating PDP candidate Kabiru Marafa Achida, who received 23,344 votes. He was consequently elected into the 9th National Assembly.

His educational and professional background has also been reported in official and parliamentary records. The 2019 INEC candidate list recorded his qualifications as FSLC, SSCE, BSc and MSc. A current professional profile identifies him as a licensed architect, and his public profile uses the professional designation Arc. His architectural background has been presented as part of his professional experience alongside his political and legislative career.

During the 9th National Assembly, Aliyu served as Vice Chairman of the House Committee on Urban Development and Regional Planning. The committee assignment was relevant to his professional background in architecture and involved parliamentary oversight of matters connected with urban development and regional planning.

Aliyu retained the Wurno/Rabah seat in the 2023 general election, beginning another term in the 10th National Assembly. He has continued to represent the constituency under the APC, with his parliamentary career now spanning the 9th and 10th Assemblies. The National Assembly and other legislative profiles identify him as the APC representative for Wurno/Rabah.

For the 2027 House of Representatives election, Aliyu Ibrahim Almustapha is again listed as the APC candidate for Wurno/Rabah Federal Constituency. The current candidate records identify him as the APC nominee, while the election remains a future contest and no 2027 result has been declared. His candidacy therefore represents an attempt to continue his federal legislative representation of Wurno and Rabah.

Aliyu Ibrahim Almustapha's political career has consequently covered grassroots legislative representation, state government service and federal parliamentary leadership. From his two terms in the Sokoto State House of Assembly and his appointment as Special Adviser on Infrastructural Development to his two terms in the House of Representatives, he has accumulated experience across different levels of government. His professional background as an architect and his previous committee role in urban development have also formed part of his public-service profile. As the APC candidate for Wurno/Rabah in 2027, he remains involved in federal electoral politics in Sokoto State.
