Olamijuwonlo Ayodeji Alao-Akala is a Nigerian politician and businessman from Oyo State. He was born on September 9, 1985, and is the son of the late Otunba Adebayo Alao-Akala, who served as Deputy Governor and later Governor of Oyo State. Olamijuwonlo comes from Ogbomoso and has built his own political career within the state, following a path that has kept him closely connected to the political and community affairs of the Ogbomoso area.
Alao-Akala is a graduate with a Master of Science degree and has developed his professional and public-service career alongside his political activities. Before his election to the National Assembly, he was involved in local government administration and grassroots politics. He served as Chairman of Ogbomoso North Local Government, an experience that gave him direct exposure to local governance and community-level development issues.
His transition from local government administration to federal politics came with his election to the House of Representatives in 2023. He was elected under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to represent the Ogbomoso North, Ogbomoso South and Oriire Federal Constituency of Oyo State in the 10th National Assembly. His election placed him among the younger members of the House and gave him a platform to participate in national legislation while continuing to focus on issues affecting his constituency.
Within the House of Representatives, Alao-Akala has held several committee responsibilities. He serves as Chairman of the House Committee on Youth in Parliament and has also been associated with the Young Parliamentarians Forum. His other committee responsibilities have included participation in areas such as youth development, capital market and institutions, national planning and development, works, judiciary, public service matters and TETFund. These assignments have allowed him to participate in legislative discussions covering both youth-focused issues and broader national development.
One of the major legislative initiatives associated with Alao-Akala is his sponsorship of a constitutional amendment bill seeking the creation of new states, including a proposed Oyo State with Ogbomoso as its capital. The bill proposed adjustments to the First Schedule of the Constitution and sought to establish new administrative arrangements for parts of the present Oyo State. The proposal reflects his emphasis on greater administrative and developmental attention to Ogbomoso and surrounding communities.
Beyond legislative activities, Alao-Akala has also been involved in constituency-oriented programmes, particularly in youth empowerment, education and technology. His constituency initiatives have included vocational information-technology training, provision of laptops and support for participants seeking to develop practical digital skills. His public platform has also highlighted educational support, including scholarship assistance for young people within his constituency.
As of 2026, Alao-Akala remains a serving member of the House of Representatives and has been presented by the Oyo State APC as its candidate for the Ogbomoso North/Ogbomoso South/Oriire Federal Constituency in the 2027 general election. His 2027 candidacy represents an attempt to retain the federal constituency seat and continue his legislative career in the National Assembly.
Olamijuwonlo Ayodeji Alao-Akala's political career therefore spans local government administration and federal legislative service. His background as the son of a former Oyo State governor has been an important part of his public profile, but he has also established his own record through local government leadership, representation in the House of Representatives, youth-focused legislative responsibilities, constituency programmes and advocacy for increased developmental attention to the Ogbomoso area.
