About Alabi Akinola Adekunle (Hon.)

Hon. Akinola Adekunle Alabi is a Nigerian politician, businessman, author and public figure from Oyo State. He represents the Egbeda/Ona-Ara Federal Constituency of Oyo State in the House of Representatives and is a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC). He has served continuously in the National Assembly since 2019, having been elected to the Ninth National Assembly and subsequently returned for the Tenth National Assembly. The National Assembly identifies his constituency as Ona-Ara/Egbeda and lists him as an APC member of the House of Representatives.

Akinola Alabi was born on 31 March 1977. He was born in Ibadan, Oyo State, and began his education at Command Children School, Ibadan, before attending Federal Government College, Enugu, for his secondary education. His educational background includes a Higher National Diploma in Business Administration from The Polytechnic, Ibadan, as well as a Master of Science degree in Marketing from the University of Liverpool in the United Kingdom. His official National Assembly profile also records a certificate in Intellectual Property Strategy from Harvard University.

Before entering politics, Alabi established a career in entrepreneurship and business. He became known in Nigeria's business community as the founder of NairaBET, a Nigerian business venture that contributed to his public profile as an entrepreneur. He has also written books on business and marketing, including Small Business Big Money and How to Sell to Nigerians. His experience in business and entrepreneurship preceded his transition into electoral politics and public service.

Alabi entered elective politics ahead of the 2019 general election, when he contested the House of Representatives seat for the Egbeda/Ona-Ara Federal Constituency on the platform of the APC. INEC's final list of candidates for the 2019 election records Akinola Adekunle Alabi as the APC candidate for Egbeda/Ona-Ara, with ND, HND and MSc listed among his qualifications. He went on to win the election and became a member of the Ninth National Assembly.

During the Ninth National Assembly, Alabi participated in parliamentary and committee activities relating to federal governance and constituency representation. His transition from the business sector into the legislature gave him experience in both private enterprise and public administration. His legislative interests have included areas such as healthcare, education, youth development, federal character, electoral matters, human rights, local content and other issues of national importance.

In the 2023 general election, Alabi secured another term in the House of Representatives, making him a returning member of the Tenth National Assembly. Election records show that he won the Egbeda/Ona-Ara seat again on the APC platform, continuing his representation of the constituency beyond his initial 2019–2023 tenure. His second term places his current legislative service within the 2023–2027 period.

Within the Tenth National Assembly, Alabi has held committee responsibilities, including leadership of the House Committee on Works. His parliamentary responsibilities involve participation in federal lawmaking, consideration of national policies and budgets, and oversight of government institutions and programmes within his committee's jurisdiction. His official parliamentary profile identifies constituency and community development, youth empowerment, women empowerment and good governance among his stated target areas.

Ahead of the 2027 general election, Alabi has again been presented by the APC as its candidate for the Egbeda/Ona-Ara Federal Constituency. The Oyo State APC unveiled its 2027 House of Representatives candidates in September 2026, with Akinola Adekunle Alabi listed among the party's candidates. His candidacy therefore represents an attempt to continue his federal legislative representation of Egbeda and Ona-Ara after two terms in the House.

Alabi Akinola Adekunle's public career therefore combines entrepreneurship, authorship and political service. Since entering the House of Representatives in 2019, he has served two consecutive terms and remained involved in federal legislative and constituency affairs. As the APC candidate for Egbeda/Ona-Ara in 2027, he continues his political career with the constituency as the centre of his federal legislative representation.
