Ondo | House of representatives
Hon. Adefarati Adegboyega Adeyemi is a Nigerian politician, businessman and member of the House of Representatives representing the Akoko South East/Akoko South West Federal Constituency of Ondo State. He is a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and currently serves in the 10th National Assembly. He is also the son of the late Adebayo Adefarati, who served as Governor of Ondo State from 1999 to 2003.
Adefarati was born on November 19, 1965. He had his early education at Methodist Primary School, Osu, Osun State, before attending St. Thomas Aquinas College, Akure, and Community Comprehensive High School, Erusu-Akoko. He later studied History at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, and obtained a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Lagos State University.
Before entering elective politics, Adefarati built a career in the private sector. He worked with Pace Mortgage Finance as an Administrative Officer and later served as Head of Operations at Secure Savings and Loans. He subsequently became Executive Director of Ely Samuel Limited and later Managing Director of Sharon Designs and Prints Limited. His professional experience has therefore included finance, business management and entrepreneurship.
His political career dates back to the early years of Nigeria's Fourth Republic. He was a founding member of the Alliance for Democracy and later became one of the founding members of the All Progressives Congress. He previously sought election to the House of Representatives for the Akoko South East/Akoko South West constituency in 2011 and again in 2015. He also participated in political campaign organisations in Ondo State, including the campaign structure associated with former Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu.
Adefarati eventually won election to the House of Representatives in 2023 on the platform of the APC, succeeding Adejoro Adeogun as representative of the constituency. In the National Assembly, he has been involved in legislative and constituency activities, including interventions aimed at supporting students and residents of Akoko South East and Akoko South West. He has also served as Chairman of the House Committee on Labour, Employment and Productivity.
As a representative, Adefarati has supported programmes directed at education and youth development within his constituency. He has also been associated with bursary and educational support initiatives for students, reflecting his stated focus on improving opportunities for young people in the constituency.
In May 2026, Adefarati emerged as the APC candidate for the Akoko South East/Akoko South West Federal Constituency for the 2027 House of Representatives election. Reports stated that he secured the party's ticket unopposed after other aspirants were not cleared to participate in the primary. He is therefore seeking another term in the House of Representatives in the 2027 general elections.
